A few years ago, car sharing was still marginal, but now it is increasingly practiced by motorists. However, the authorities want it to be even more, although the advantages of this decision are many.
Thanks to the Games, we will transform our city in depth, like a ring road that will become a green belt:

The French are not ready yet
And it is not for nothing that the latter allows in particular clear the roads, especially during peak hours in the morning and evening. In addition, it also helps to save fuel, which is a real advantage in times when fuel is especially expensive. Finally, this practice also makes it possible to reduce the emission of polluting gases. That’s how the government unveiled its car-sharing plan last year to encourage motorists to take the plunge, including through financial help. But in reality the results are very average, while the mayo doesn’t seem to have caught on. This is in fact what the fifth edition of the VINCI Autoroutes driverless barometer, which has just been published, shows. And the numbers aren’t great, although they do prove that motorists are still very attached to self-driving in their daily journeys. It seems to be very ingrained and habits are hard to change.
Still progress
And for good reason, no less 83.8% of motorists still alone in my car during morning rush hour. According to the barometer, “if this proportion is down 1 point compared to autumn 2022 (84.7%), this means an average of 1.24 people per vehicle, still far from the target of 175 people per vehicle. The results, however, vary by city, while “ten measurement locations show a decrease in solo driving compared to the same period in 2022, notably Ile-de-France, Aix-en-Provence and Toulon, which show a decrease of more than 4%. To achieve these results, traffic was analyzed in 10 French cities, representing almost 500,000 vehicles. Artificial intelligence was then used to determine the number of passengers in the cars to produce these results. So more than 8 out of 10 drivers still travel alone in their car when commuting home to work, with the peak of self-driving even approaching 88% at 7:30 am.
