GIMS, for Geneva International Motor Show, returns. After a 2019 release, the Geneva Motor Show was hastily canceled in 2020, 4 days before the press opened, due to Covid. Four years later, this is finally the official return of the show. But, as at the Paris Motor Show in 2022, the list of manufacturers present in Geneva will be significantly reduced. Exit Stellantis, the Volkswagen group, Daimler-Mercedes, BMW, Ford, Tata, Ferrari… Only the Renault group (and therefore Dacia) and the Chinese manufacturers (BYD, MG) have played the game. On Renault’s part, this is the new 5 Electric the E-Tech city car that will be the center of attention, with more than five models on the entire stand. Unveiled on Monday morning at 10am, Renault’s flagship model will be widely covered, along with other models on 2900 m² free. Not one, but two models will be presented at the stand of the Romanian manufacturer!
The new Duster and the restyled Spring are in the spotlight
In Dacia it is like that Duster of the third generation who will become the big star of the podium. Introduced at the end of last year, Dacia’s flagship SUV is enjoying its first coupe. As a reminder, the model has been completely updated, with profound changes both externally and internally. The design is inspired by the Bigster concept with a sportier body than ever. The old chassis, derived from the Clio 3, was abandoned in favor of the modern platform shared by the new Clio and Sandero (CMF-B). The engine offering is also evolving, as before with a 100 hp LPG, a 130 hp micro-hybrid petrol engine. 48V, which is already used in the Renault Austral, and finally a 140 hp hybrid version stolen from the Jogger. At the moment, prices are still unknown, but the entry level should only be around 20,000 euros.
But the Romanian SUV will not be the only star of the stand. Small Spring, just restyling, will also be highlighted. The third best-selling electric car in France received a completely updated appearance, as well as the interior. Only the roof and doors have been restored from the current version. Its modernized design with a fake Mini Duster look comes at the right time in its young career. The current interior, too bland and poorly equipped, gives way to a more technological interior (with the introduction of two 7-inch and 10-inch screens) and much better quality materials. The only downside is that spring has lost its charm environmental bonus of 4,000 euros a few weeks ago. A significant loss amid the arrival of such heavyweights as the future Citroën ë-C3…
