Xpeng enters the year of the Dragon with an ambitious plan to say the least. The Chinese company announces its future strategy by announcing the launch up to 30 new models (some new, some restyling) by 2027.

Xpeng’s CEO, He Xiaopeng, told his staff through an internal memo, explaining that with this strategy, the company intends to occupy all niches in the market, as Mercedes once did. including affordable electric cars. And, according to him, this is the only way “Stay Alive” at a time when demand is slowing and competition is increasing.

New generation platform

Xpeng, founded only 10 years ago, is one of the most active Chinese companies abroad, and after rapid growth in its market, it has arrived in some European countries, establishing itself as one of the main competitors of Nio or even BYD. These three companies, at least in the West, are focused exclusively on marketing 100% electric cars, even if BYD recently announced the launch of hybrid models. According to He Xiaopeng’s report published by Chinese media outlet CnEVPost, this new family of electric models will be based on a new platform that will introduce new developments in terms of batteries, powertrain and on-board technology.
To support this strategy, only in 2024 XPeng is investing almost 500 million euros. They will be used, in particular, for the development of driver assistance systems and technologies based on artificial intelligence.

Those who do not adapt disappear

Xpeng, which has also experienced moments of crisis throughout its history that brought it to the brink of bankruptcy, is convinced that the only way to survive this period is through rapid innovation. According to managers, 2024 will be a key year for electric mobility, with strong competition among Chinese manufacturers forcing some manufacturers to close their doors or revise their projects. XPeng also wants to create a single digital ecosystem that “connects” cars and electronic devices (PCs and smartphones).

It is with the help of this strategy that the company will try to stand out from the competition and win market share in China and abroad.
