The Porsche Macan (maybe) has some issues to worry about

Lotus intends to shake the foundations of the electric SUV market with the inevitable introduction new model, the mysterious Type 134. A true gem that competes with the formidable Porsche Macan, which has also been recently updated. The announcement is part of a strategy by Lotus, which plans to release no less than five electric cars by 2027.
This SUV, the name of which is carefully guarded until its main world premiere, scheduled for the end of this year, is located on a compact version of the platform used in the Lotus Eletre.

At the launch of Emeya in the UK, the brand spoke about its upcoming model and explained that the challenge is development A car that is both attractive and capable of taking its place in an already well-established segment.
“The D-segment SUV is a very big market and that makes the Type 134 one of the most complex products we will build. To achieve high volume, we need to create a product that is as attractive as possible.”– explained Ben Payne, Head of Design. “This approach will be an evolution of the Lotus language and DNA, but perhaps with a slightly cleaner expression. We have to balance convenience, practicality and performance, but we have to create something unique that stands out.”
A mysterious image released by Lotus only reveals the SUV’s distinctive headlight design, leaving the rest of the car in the shadows. This new addition to the Lotus electric line-up will embody innovation while maintaining the signature DNA of the British brand.

CAPITAL SUV

The Type 134 is important in Lotus’ production-focused sales strategy 150,000 cars per year by 2028. Mike Johnston, commercial director of the brand, emphasized that this model will be a real catalyst for the second phase of the company’s growth.
The brand’s current sales performance is already quite impressive. In October 2023, the brand even recorded a 43% increase in sales compared to the results of the previous month. Lotus aims to differentiate itself by highlighting the strength of its brand, drawing on 75 years of history.

For Lotus, talking about the ethos of the brand will be key to standing out in an increasingly crowded market.
