The city of Biarritz is investing in charging stations
The advent of electric vehicles requires significant resources to allow motorists to charge their vehicles. Little by little, different French cities are investing in charging stations to allow their citizens to stock up on energy: the municipality of Biarritz will put 219 charging points into operation on its territory in the near future.
The deployment will be carried out by the French company e-Totem, based in Saint-Etienne. This summer 2024 219 charging points will be available in the city of Biarritz with 125 charging stations with a capacity of up to 22 kW, which will allow residents to recharge and park for a longer time. This solution makes it possible to offer an alternative to Biarros, who do not necessarily have access to electric charging at home, because they live, for example, in collective buildings.
For passing cars and those in a hurry, fast charging stations up to 150 kWwith 28 charging stations, is also planned near major roads and places of active recreation.
The first stations are already working
Finally, around fifty charging stations will be installed “on demand”: interested users will be able to request a charging station in their area, and the city of Biarritz will study each file to install new terminals where the demand is greatest. .
To date, seven charging stations are already operating in Biarritz: avenue de Verdun (near the intersection with rue de Folin), impasse Larribau (Aguilera car park), avenue du Lac Marion (racecourse car park des Fleurs), rue du 8 mai. 1945 (in front of Malraux High School), Irati Parking Lot, Kennedy Avenue and Irondale Street.
Thirteen stations are being installed and another thirteen are under study, including some for fast charging. All planned charging points should be put into operation within a month June 2024.
To facilitate the daily life of Biarrots, several means of payment They will be offered: a bank card, a smartphone application, a top-up card from another mobile operator, as well as an e-Totem card, which also gives access to a network of more than 7,000 charging points in France.
The deployment of public charging stations in France continues. Emmanuel Macron has already set an ambitious goal for France: to achieve 400,000 charging stations by 2030.
