As every year, some models leave us, and other completely new cars appear on the roads. At the beginning of 2024, we unfortunately have to say goodbye to the Mini Countryman, as well as the Volkswagen Arteon. Well, not really…
Going from Mini Clubman to Aceman
After 1.1 million copies collected since 1969 at Oxford, it Mini Clubman Final Edition Orange, which marked the end of production of the model. The final series, the production of which was limited to only 1,969 examples with reference to the launch date of the model. 3 generations of the latter replaced each other on the conveyors of the English factory of the brand, despite the significant break of a quarter of a century between the first and second versions of the Mini station wagon. Unfortunately for the latter, we can’t say that this more down-to-earth body is still very popular today. Result, Mini has already decided to replace its family model with a much more popular SUVbut also more in the time domain: Aceman. It must be said that in addition to the improved body, this small SUV will be based on the same technical basis as the last generation Mini Cooper and therefore benefits from electric motors ! The icing on the cake is that it will also take the Clubman’s place on the Mini production lines in Oxford. And while it certainly hasn’t been officially announced yet, its launch is already planned by Mini and will appear later this year.
Goodbye Volkswagen Arteon, almost…
As mentioned earlier, the Mini mini wagon is not the only one that will be saying goodbye to us in early 2024. Soon, the Arteon will also leave the Volkswagen configurator due to lack of popularity. Moreover, as was the case with the Clubman, Wolfsburg has already introduced a new, more modern sedan with a sloping roof, 4 doors and a large trunk that can be accessed through a large tailgate: the ID.7. But unlike the Arteon, whose plug-in hybrid variant’s small battery only provides around forty kilometers of true 100% electric range, the latest Volkswagen that isn’t content with being 100% electric is one of the rare models on the market , which can travel. more than 600 km on a charge! And if today from Volkswagen you can order only the version equipped with a battery with a capacity of 77 kWh, which claims an official WLTP range of 616 km, then the second option has a slightly larger battery of 85 kWh and is able to travel up to 700 km on a single charge . will also be available later! As they say sedan Arteon cannot fight in this period of transition from thermal to electric…
On the other hand, unlike the Clubman, In fact, the Arteon will not completely disappear from the Volkswagen catalog. Its Shooting Brake variant, with an even bigger trunk, should indeed remain available until 2026.. After which, we assume, the model will disappear forever from the Volkswagen catalog in favor of another electric station wagon, probably the ID.7 Tourer.
