Practical application of V2G technology
On March 1, 2024, Nissan will start Japan Nissan Energy Sharewhich uses the new service V2G technology (Vehicle to network) to optimize energy management by controlling charging and discharging batteries for electric carsand use them as mobile power units capableenergy buildings.
This service has been studied and tested in Japan, in places like Namie and Fukushima, to find the most effective ways manage the energy of electric vehicles. Nissan Energy Share enables intelligent and autonomous charging and discharging of electric vehicle batteries.
This system contains a connected charge and discharge controllerto predict vehicle energy consumption using real-time information: remaining charge, vehicle usage habits, building energy consumption, etc. And also autonomously determine the optimal time for charging or discharging the battery.
Nissan Energy Share: greater comfort and savings
In practice, this makes it possible to offload the local grid during peak consumption periods by transferring energy from the vehicle and vice versa without compromising performance or comfort. This reduces the risk of power outages in case of high voltage, at the same time reducing the electricity bill buildings
If the customer has a solar panel, the Nissan Energy Share system also allows the use of this energy source.renewable energy, to save money while decarbonizing its use. For example, vehicles are charged during the day when the sun is present, and then their energy is used to power buildings at night.
Nissan supports its customers by studying their needs and advising them on the installation of the Energy Share system, the selection of equipment and suppliers, as well as providing maintenance, monitoring or troubleshooting operations, not forgetting suggestions for improving the installation.
Previously, Nissan has already experimented several times with the use of V2X technology (A vehicle for everything) with two-way charging : the Japanese manufacturer was the first to feed a house with the energy of an electric car using V2H technology (The car to the house).
