Audi RS 6 GT (2024): the “farewell” waltz continues News Auto Plus in your smartphone News Auto Plus in your inbox

After saying goodbye to its TT and R8, Audi continues to commemorate some of its iconic models with special series that are as extravagant as they are desirable. In 2026 Audi will present only electric cars. Thus, the heat engine will disappear from the range of the firm with rings and therefore its cars, which also shaped its success.

The current Audi RS 6 will be the last to be equipped with a thermoblock. The next one should be electric, and in honor of the king of sports utility vehicles, Audi is introducing a GT version, like the R8, of its RS 6. Limited to 660 copiesfor France there will be only about thirty.

Discretion is not really necessary

Let’s start with aesthetics, because his outfit should evoke pleasant memories. The Audi RS 6 GT takes on the colors of the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO, with a white base that combines with gray and red, the colors of Audi Sport. A total of three liveries are available with Nardo Gray and Mythic Black for customers who wish to remain inconspicuous. In addition to this beautiful dress, there are also some special details, such as this front end, which has a gloss black finish on the radiator grille and air intakes, while for the first time for an Audi, the hood is made of carbon. We also find a tailgate spoiler as well as vents behind the front wheels that are responsible for reducing pressure and improving brake cooling. Speaking of details, we can only be tempted by the 22-inch white alloy wheels with a specific design.
Inside, too, keeping the typical Audi features of recent years, the RS 6 Avant GT impresses with a dashboard, center console and armrests covered in suede with red and copper stitching, as well as the serial number. Examples planned for France will automatically be delivered with carbon bucket seats, saving 4kg each on the scales. A trifle for a car weighing more than two tons.

Lighter, faster and just as powerful as the Audi RS 6 Performance

Now coming to the technical aspect: the GT has the same technical basis as the Performance ie. 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a capacity of 630 hp, a torque of 850 Nmbut develops speed from 0 to 100 km/h 3.3 seconds : one-tenth less than its sister, and three-tenths less than the “regular” RS 6. And while we’re at it, it accelerates from 0 to 200 km/h in 11.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 305 km / hour These small benefits are the result of a 40 kg weight reduction compared to the standard model 15 kg compared to the Performance model.
The Audi RS 6 GT, compared to the Performance, has a special rear differential to improve traction, while the rear axle can transmit up to 85% of the power. The chassis has undergone some changes: the suspension consists of adjustable springs that allow you to lower it by 10 millimeters, as well as shock absorbers that are adjustable for compression and rebound. The technical data sheet also states the presence of anti-roll bars reinforced by 30% in the front and 80% in the rear. In addition, for the first time in the history of the model, the suspension is equipped with manually adjustable ring nut shock absorbers, as in the RS 4.
And the price of this beautiful toy? 230,000 euros in France, or 82,000 euros more than the Performance version. An irrevocable fine of 60,000 euros will have to be added to this. In other words, with several unavoidable options, The Audi RS 6 Avant GT can exceed €300,000 turnkey in our market. This should not deter potential customers as the brand plans to select them from the file.

Still, €82,000 more for a few chassis tweaks, decals and a few carbon bits is expensive, even if some see it as a future collector’s item.
