Fortunately, that finally changed last year with the launch of the Austral, the SUV that replaced the Kadjar, which, if not completely lacking in quality, was a clear misstep for the Losange. Unlike its elder, who was forced to bow down before the success of his majesty 3008, the Austral has been on a par with the Peugeot icon all year. What’s more, the two made such a mark that they finished FY2023 with just 400 registrations apart… out of roughly 30,000 copies sold. By the way, it is the undefeated Lion King who wins on the wire, thus ending his illustrious career undefeated. Because since its debut in 2016, the 3008 “2” has consistently remained the most popular compact SUV on the French market. Good for Peugeot when we know that this category, which experts describe as segment C (where we also find the VW Tiguan, Citroën C5 Aircross and other Nissan Qashqai) and which combines high sales volumes and high prices (often close to € 40 000), is certainly the most profitable for manufacturers.

The fact remains: it’s all about doing it again this year for Peugeot, which has decided to give its goose that lays the golden eggs an offspring. As they say, the most difficult thing is not to achieve success, but to maintain it. So, to go head to head with this Austral, can the 3008 ‘3’ retain what made its predecessor so famous while bringing its fair share of innovation? The first element of the response to this unprecedented meeting Auto Plus managed to organize you.
