Technology launched in Europe from September 2022
there Nissan e-Power technology was introduced in Europe in September 2022 on the Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail. From the moment of their launch, it has passed to this day in Europe 65,367 units of the Qashqai and 34,663 units of the X-Trail with the e-Power engine. On the Qashqai, the e-Power engine is a success, as it accounts for at least 80% of total sales.
“We are very proud that Qashqai and X-Trail customers are recognizing the benefits of our e-Power technology, which is unique in both its efficiency and high driving quality. Exceeding this symbolic milestone of 100,000 e-Power vehicles sold in Europe since launch in September 2022 is an exceptional achievement and a tribute to the bold and innovative spirit of our product planning and development services.said Arnaud Charpentier, vice president Product strategy and pricing in Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania).
To mark this momentous occasion, Nissan made a video which highlights how its e-Power technology works 3D modeling energy flow to the Qashqai and X-Trail body:
Nissan e-Power: the benefits of electricity without the drawbacks
In practice, Nissan e-Power is hybridization technology a bit special as it is a an electric motor that drives the wheels of a carwith all the advantages of an electric motor: driving is simple, smooth and quiet.
THE gasoline engine used for generate electricity : this is stored in the battery and then used to power an electric motor to drive the car’s wheels. Thus, there is no need to plug in a Nissan equipped with an e-Power engine to charge its battery, thus freeing users from the limitations associated with 100% electric vehicles.
Also, when the battery is sufficiently charged and when little power is required to operate, the heat engine can shut down so that only battery power powers the electric motor. In case of heavy loads, the heat engine restarts to generate electricity, which serves both to power the electric motor and to charge the battery. System energy recovery also allows energy regenerated while the vehicle is moving to be sent to the battery.
In addition to the 100,000 e-Power models sold in Europe, the technology is also sold in Australia and New Zealand (Qashqai and X-Trail) and Morocco (Qashqai). However, the Japanese manufacturer does not specify sales data in these markets.
