Social leasing is the biggest attraction at the beginning of the year in the world of electric cars in France. It’s a bit of a buzz at the moment, between the 2024 bonus decree that hasn’t been published yet, the 90,000 social leasing files sent to just 20,000-25,000 lucky people or even manufacturers increasing their offerings.
While Stellantis and Renault have generally been the first movers, other brands have been quick to follow suit, such as Nissan with its Leaf, notably Hyundai rather than Kona, and more recently the Volkswagen Group.
Four eligible Volkswagen Group vehicles
The electricity leasing price offer thus includes little Volkswagen e-up! €89 per month, ID.3 €109 per month, Cupra Born €109 per month and Skoda Enyaq €149 per month. These four cars, all made in Europe, of course, to meet the requirements of the new environmental bonus, will be available at the end of the month, pending the final signature between the government and the financial captive concern Volkswagen.
This proposal comes late, especially since the number of files is very limited, even if the Minister of Environmental Transition, Christophe Bechu, recently emphasized I want to increase the number of files to 40,000. For its part, the management of the Volkswagen concern in France clarifies that it was not consulted at the top, unlike the French manufacturers. That is why offers of social leasing from foreign manufacturers arrive later than from Citroën, Renault or Peugeot.
Terms of social leasing
Remember that this social leasing is linked to basic tax income, which should not exceed 15,400 euros per year. Therefore, a couple earning €30,800 a year may be eligible for the scheme. Available models are also eligible for a new environmental bonus, the thinly veiled aim of which is to favor cars made in Europe.
You must also drive more than 8,000 kilometers a year for professional reasons or live more than 15 kilometers from your place of work to be eligible.
