Opel Crossland X was the first model of the German brand, created as a result of cooperation with the former PSA group. In 2024, this model will be updated, with a new generation and, not surprisingly, it will no longer be called Crossland, but Fronteraa name that repeats one of the manufacturer’s models sold in the 90s.

According to the official statements of the brand, this SUV will be based on the same principles as the next Citroën C3 Aircross.

Full range of engines

The Opel Frontera, even if based on the same underpinnings as the upcoming C3 Aircross, will have slightly more robust lines, with a slight off-road aspect that shouldn’t displease some customers. Contrary to the trend of coupe SUVs, the new Frontera will be characterized by fairly simple, straight-line forms that optimize living comfort as much as possible.
While mechanical details are still scarce, this model should be based on the Stellantis Smart Car platform and be implemented on the new C3. This platform, designed to accommodate both fully electric power units and electrified systems, offers a certain balance between electrification, technology and maintenance costs. The Opel Frontera will offer different engines in line with the concern’s trend towards increasing electrification. The brand has already announced that this new SUV will be available in an electric version from launch, no doubt with some similarities to the ë-C3 Aircross. The version with the most autonomy should exceed 400 km according to the WLTP cycle.

2024 is a rich year for Opel

In 2024, Opel will also launch the new Grandland, a model based on the same platform as the new Peugeot e-3008, with several electric, combustion engine and hybrid versions.

Its presentation should take place in the second half of the year, and the launch is planned for the end of 2024 or even the beginning of 2025.
