
The start of the new year 2024 is an opportunity for manufacturers to summarize their sales for 2023. Toyotaconsisting of brands Toyota and Lexusrecorded the growth of its sales in 2023, p 1,173,419 approx overall in Europe +9% growth compared to the previous year, as well market share 6.7%.
Toyota: sales increased by 7%
in detail, Toyota sold 1,099,782 cars in 2023, which is +7% more than in 2022. Among them, electrified models accounted for 755,005 units, which is +11% more. The Toyota bZ4X SUV alone sold 19,606 units, while Toyota plans to accelerate deliveries of the new Toyota C-HR in the first quarter of 2024.
THE the most popular models of the Japanese company in 2023 were Yaris Cross (195,569 units), Corolla (181,094 units), Yaris (166,925 units), Toyota C-HR (117,552 models), Aygo ): these models together account for 76% of the total brand sales.
On the side Toyota Professionalwe recorded the record 140,062 sales in 2023, having increased by +18% compared to the previous year. The range aimed at professionals now consists of electrified engines on all models, with 100% electric battery models accounting for 14% of total sales of the Proace and Proace City range, complemented by the new Proace Max.
Sales should start to pick up again this year, thanks in particular to the launch of the new Toyota Hilux Hybrid 48V.
Lexus: sales increased by 46%.
Lexus recorded rapid sales growth in 2023 with a total of 73,637 cars passed, an increase of +46% in one year. Among these volumes, electrified models accounted for no less than 87% of the total sales volume and almost 100% in Western Europe.
It strong sales growth Lexus is due to the brand’s push into the premium SUV segment, as well as the hybrid, hybrid and battery electric powertrain offerings found on its flagship models: the Lexus NX (25,709 units), which recorded sales growth of +47% year-on-year and up to +50 % for the hybrid PHEV version, Lexus UX (18,747 sales), the new Lexus RZ, not forgetting the Lexus RX (15,529 units), which recorded a 44% increase in sales compared to last year.
Sales of the new-generation Lexus RX are up +45% year-on-year, with its plug-in hybrid engine accounting for 33% of total SUV sales. In 2024, the Japanese manufacturer plans further growth with the arrival of the Lexus LM, which should be in great demand, not forgetting the release of the Lexus LBX in early 2024, the brand’s first urban crossover.
In Europe, the Toyota Motor Europe Group aims to achieve 100% reduction in CO2 emissions in their new vehicles by 2035. For this, the Japanese manufacturer will offer a full range of electrified models: hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery electric and fuel cells.
