For several years, government agencies hunted thermal cars, especially older ones. In fact, the latter are considered more polluting than the others, which is why they are covered by our Crit’Air sticker. So much so that models registered before 1997 are not eligible and therefore cannot circulate in the ZFE anywhere in France. This creates big problems for people who own this type of vehicle and cannot afford a more modern car. And this despite the fact that social leasing is not available to everyone, which does not offer enough affordable transport.
Car collisions happen more often than you might think, and they often happen during your daily commute. It is important to know how to react. #Hang up #Auto insurance pic.twitter.com/n762b413p4

It’s OK
But while the noose on thermal cars is being tightened, as new models will be banned from sale, what about the old ones? According to some rumors in the corridors, it will be soon it is forbidden to repair them over the next few years. An event that will apply to models older than 15 years, and which worries many motorists and collectors. But you can immediately calm down, these are just absolutely baseless rumors. And it is not for nothing that the European Union is currently not planning anything like this. Therefore, it will always be quite possible to repair your old car.
A special case
However, it is true that old cars too damaged to be repaired will be considered expired. In addition, a spokesperson for the European Commission clarified this, confirming that the ban on repairs applies “exclusively to vehicles that have already reached the end of their service life”. Thus, repairable cars can be repaired as much as necessary without any restrictions. Therefore, drivers can breathe easy!
