Some time has passed since ZFE was founded, first in Paris and then in many other large cities in France. For the record, they are based on the Crit’Air sticker to determine if cars are allowed to drive there. And, of course, over the years, the access conditions will increase, which will of course create confusion among motorists, but not only that. Indeed, many of them also oppose what many see as a form of discrimination.
WARNING! Since 2015 and the appearance of Crit’Air stickers, traffic restrictions apply to some vehicles in large cities. Shall we summarize together? 🚙 #MyProjectMoreResponsible

Controversial hardening
Currently, these are unclassified cars and go to Crit’Air 4 which are prohibited in most cities covered by this measure. Later it will be the turn of Crit’Air 3, even if the schedule is not the same everywhere and depends on the strategy of the city hall. And now the city of Lyon wants to go even further and, above all, faster. Indeed, Crit’Air 2 (Euro 4 petrol cars put into service before 1 January 2006 and all diesel engines) was planned to be banned in 2026. The date has been moved to 2028, but it remains contested.
Strong opposition
And it is not for nothing that the Minister of Ecological Transition, Christophe Bechu, explains that ” I remain dubious about this new calendar, which pushes the decision to 2028. In fact, he emphasizes that “no community, apart from the Métropole de Lyon, has taken this path“. Indeed, he believes it is a ban on cars Crit’Air 2 sticker it’s still a little early. Especially since it risks putting thousands of motorists in great difficulty in the future.
