The last generation Range Rover (don’t call it a Land Rover anymore!) was launched in 2022 and has petrol and diesel engines, recently joined by hybrid versions, which now make up the majority of sales in France.
Next year, this assortment will be supplemented with the appearance of a 100% electric engine with Range Rover Electric : the British firm has just revealed the first images and information about its upcoming zero-emission (exhaust) SUV based on MLA platform (flexible longitudinal modular architecture).
Range Rover Electric: powerful electric motor
On these first photos, we can reveal some details of the Range Rover Electric’s trunk lid with its impressive styling, the charging port or even the alloy wheels with the “EV” logo in the center. Apart from these small subtle details, a 100% electric model should not be radically different from a thermal or hybrid Range Rover.
It is under the hood that we will find most of its features: its 100% electric motorizationbased on a 800 V architecture, which will allow fast charging at compatible public charging stations. At the moment, the British manufacturer is not revealing any additional information on this matter, but has already announced that its Range Rover Electric will offer “Power comparable to a Range Rover V8”i.e. acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4 seconds!
Technical tests of the first Range Rover Electric prototypes are currently underway, road tests between Sweden and Dubai at extreme temperatures from -40°C to +50°C. It is enough to check the reliability of the electric motor, battery, chassis, as well as the dynamic characteristics of the car.
Increased bandwidth
Brand engineers strive to create the quietest and most refined Range Rover in history, with “A unique configuration of active noise reduction, attention to the sound environment, as well as an excellent level of comfort in the cabin”. Also, the model will be able to cross fords with a depth of up to 850 mmup to 50 km/h.
On the Land Rover website a waiting list has been opened to be among the first to pre-order the upcoming 100% electric Range Rover. Made in Solihull, UK, it will on the market in 2024and we should know more about it soon.
