In 1999In the year of the creation of their alliance, Renault and Nissan joined forces in the field of SUVs. The Frenchman gave the Japanese partner the right to use his large Master van: it was available at Interstar that year. In 2001, the Trafic-based Primastar appeared, and in 2003, the Kangoo-based Kubistar. Since then, despite the disappearance of the Renault-Nissan alliance, this strategic partnership has continued. The new Kangoo is now Nissan’s Townstar, while the Primastar and Interstar have returned to their original names (for a time they were NV300 and NV400). Until The wizard just updated in the brand new fourth generation, we were waiting for news from its Japanese clone: Nissan just released a small ballast!
Some styling changes in the front and back
In a teaser released this week by the brand, Interstar 2024 is starting to show itself. Not surprisingly, it has the same aerodynamic silhouette as its French counterpart. Indeed, the diamond brand speaks of the “aérovan”, with “the exceptional work carried out on aerodynamics that allows it to offer the best efficiency in its category, regardless of the energy used”. As in the previous ones, stern and nose will be slightly different : it will feature a distinctive grille adorned with and topped by the Nissan logo the name INTERSTAR is written in full. The rear lights will keep their shape, but will have a special light signature. The interior should be very similar to that of the Master, except for the logo on the steering wheel and the multimedia system. In fact, it should have the same 10-inch central screen and a new steering wheel-mounted gear lever for the automatic version.
Electric for the first time
It should focus on a “multi-energy” model, like its French counterpart three diesel options 130, 150 and 170 hp, as well as two electric motors 130 or 143 hp, with a battery capacity of 40 kWh (180 km WLTP autonomy) and 87 kWh (WLTP range is more than 410 km). A 130 kW DC fast charge will restore 229 km of range in 30 minutes. At home, charging from 10 to 100% should be done in less than four hours with a 22 kW Wallbox.
Electric versions must be able to provide power to the tools (V2L, vehicle to load) or send power back to the grid (V2G, vehicle to grid). Unlike the Master, it should skip the hydrogen version. Assembled on the same principle as its cousin, at Batilla (54) near Metz, The new Nissan Interstar will enter the market in the first half of 2024.
