As you know, and you’ve probably read it in our columns, the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, recently announced her intention to take punitive measures against owners of SUVs in the capital. This announcement is part of the fight against air pollution and aims to improve road safety and the quality of public spaces.
One of the key measures of this strategy is This is the rising price of SUV parking in Paris. Anne Hidalgo has just revealed the contours of this event, and the latter simply wishes Triple prices for SUV parking in Paris.
SUVs drove non-Parisians out of Paris
Parisians will have the opportunity to vote on the proposal in a planned public vote next February 4. The following question is put to the vote: “For or against the creation of a certain tariff for parking heavy, bulky and polluting individual cars? »
If the majority of citizens vote in favor of this measure, owners of SUVs will face a significant increase in parking rates. The hourly fee for SUV parking will be 18 euros in the central areas and 12 euros in the suburbs.

Obviously, as shown in the infographic above, the prices will be progressive and will simply become indigestible. At least more than they were. Example, an SUV that is parked for more than 6 hours on the road for 5thousand the county will have to pay an amount of 225 euros. For that price, you might as well park underground.
Parisians will not be directly affected
This increase in price applies not only to SUVs, but also thermal or plug-in hybrid cars weighing more than 1.6 tonse, as well as 2-ton electric vehicles. These categories of vehicles make up about 10% of the Paris car fleet, according to the mayor’s estimates.
Currently, the standard fee for a parking space is €6 in zone 1 and €4 in zone 2 for a regular car.
Please note that residents of Paris with a resident card will be exempt from this price increase. This is a strategic decision for City Hall because it should allow certain bigots to vote for the measure, simply because they won’t ultimately be affected by it, even if they own an SUV.
