Alfa Romeo Brennero: an urban SUV based on the Peugeot 2008
A few months ago, the biscione manufacturer launched a contest that allowed his fans to help him choose the name of his upcoming model, between Brennero, Alfasud, Cerreto or even Ballino. The choice seems to have been made, even if “Alpha” in its publication indicates this “Maybe we knew it all along”…
In any case, the upcoming Alfa Romeo Brennero will not be a surprise in itself, since it is a model based on e-CMP platform PSA integrated into the organ bank of the Stellantis group. THE future Italian city SUV therefore, it will be a distant relative of the Peugeot 2008, DS 3, Opel Mokka, Jeep Avenger and other Fiat 600s.
Electric and thermal engines
Then under the hood we have to find the Alfa Romeo Brennero engine three-cylinder gasoline 1.2-liter PureTech with a capacity of up to 155 horsepower, which will be available in a version with easy hybridizationand even a block four-cylinder diesel 1.5L BlueHDi depending on market.
Of course, a electric motorization will also be in the program with the latest 156 hp unit from the Stellantis group, combined with a 400 V battery, which will offer range of about 400 km. However, the detailed technical specifications of the Alfa Romeo version, as well as the design of this future Brennero, remain a mystery for now.
The new Alfa Romeo Brennero will be sold in during 2024. Therefore, the Italian manufacturer should tell us more about its future urban SUV in the coming months.
