We know that taxation is a national sport in France, and cars bear the brunt. This especially applies to thermal models, which are subject to an environmental penalty for CO2 emissions, as well as a penalty for greater weight. At the same time, the state continues to tighten the screws with the bonus, which will no longer be assigned electric cars made in China from next year. The goal? Save money, even if this assistance represents a significant cost to the government. But that’s not all, because the latter has other plans.
There is an exception to the end of sales of diesel cars in 2035, voted by the European Parliament: luxury cars (Ferrari, etc.). Of course, there are not many of them, so the emissions will be limited, but for the symbol and social justice, it will be necessary to return pic.twitter.com/6gPS9lc6ZE

Weight penalty?
Indeed, it is said that electric vehicles may also be subject to a weight penalty. It won’t happen immediately, but it could happen within 2025. In this case it is that draft law on finance (PLF) for 2024, which is currently being voted on. Then an amendment could be added regarding the penalty for the weight of electric vehicles. The latter will also apply to simple and battery hybrid models from January 1, 2025, and this is already fixed.
A high amount
For thermal cars, the threshold will be 1,900 kilograms, followed by a fine of €10 per additional kilogram. Which could then threaten certain models like the new Peugeot e-3008 or the Tesla Model Y and the entire rest of the lineup except for the Model 3, among others. In general, there are more thanabout fifty cars electric companies that could be affected by this new tax, which could take effect in just over a year.
