There is an element that is on almost all cars. If you have an observant mind, you’ve no doubt already noticed this detail is right before your eyes…
But what are these little black dots?
Most of us don’t pay much attention to the pattern on the windshield of each car. But when you’re stuck in traffic or just stopped for a while, you probably lost your eye on this detail.
These are small black dots on the edges of the windows and the windshield play a very important role. This is a specific and highly resistant ceramic coating called “frit”.
Everyone sees them, but no one asks why they are there. And yet they are much more useful than you think…
What is the benefit?
In fact, these little black dots have several functions.
First, they serve to “preserve the urethane sealant used to bond the glass to the frame,” which holds your windshield firmly in place. They serve as a point of contact between the window and the frame of the car.
In addition, these points also allow better temperature distribution on the surface of the glass and prevents the glass from warping. as? In the sun, the black strip heats up faster than the rest of the windshield. This difference creates optical distortion. This phenomenon annoys the driver because it distorts straight lines.
Thanks to these black spots, the phenomenon is less. Heat is dissipated and distributed evenly, reducing the risk of road distortion for motorists.
Finally, small dots also have an aesthetic function. If you look closely, the contrast between the dark strip and the clear glass can seem too obvious even from a distance.
Creating a halftone pattern or dot matrix allows you to gradually reduce the size, making the transition much more subtle and pleasing to the eye!
Now you know!
