The United States was not necessarily a pioneer in the energy transition that began a few years ago, from conservatism to a country ill-suited for electric vehicles due to long distances, sometimes without the shadow of a charging station.

However, Joe Biden’s administration has decided to pick up the pace, and as usual with Americans, things have to move fast, very fast in fact. The “Biden plan” is aimed at achieving share of 60% of electric vehicles sold by 2030 in the US, then 67% by 2032.

Dealers sound the alarm

Except that in Uncle Sam’s country, the dealers are king even more than the manufacturers this strategy is under consideration “unrealistic” professionals.

More than 4,000 dealers, united under the umbrella name EV Customer Voice, have signed a letter calling for the transition to be slowed, believing that “consumers are not yet ready for a mass transition to electricity. ยป

To substantiate their arguments, the plots do not go around the roof, as they simply mention “accumulation of electric cars in their showrooms”.

Electric cars again persona non grata ?

Dealers add that despite a strong economy, the United States lags behind Europe and China in the adoption of electric vehicles, in part because of such a vast network of charging stations that has not yet been unveiled.

According to dealers, “Electric cars sell three times worse than their thermal counterparts”, mainly due to their high cost and difficulty in financing. Additionally, salespeople are often not trained enough to effectively advertise the benefits of these models.
