Until recently, Smart sold only two city cars in its catalog. It will be recalled that these were ForTwo and ForFour, which were initially sold with thermal engines, and a little later became 100% electric. But after a long career, it was finally time for them to take a well-deserved retirement, as the company was looking for a little facelift. Thus was born the Smart #1, followed by the new #3, which will soon be available in a new, more affordable version.
It’s a smart city and we love it!

Not now
But while SmartForTwo therefore left the catalog, the manufacturer is without a small city car. And that probably won’t last long, at least according to our colleagues at the German website Auto Zeitung. Actually, they explain that the return of the small two-seater car is not far off, and it is better to be patient. And it is not for nothing that the arrival of a potential new generation is not not planned until at least 2026. Suffice it to say, it gives you time to see how it comes. But what do we know about it?
Vehicle available
Well, at the moment, not really. Only that this hypothetical Smart #2 will be developed by Smart in-house, not in partnership with Renault or even Geely. On the other hand, could well compete with the future Twingo Legend as well as the Dacia spring. Because there is no doubt that this newcomer will have a 100% electric engine, even if it has not yet been officially confirmed by the Sino-German manufacturer.
