Smile, you might be filmed (again)! As soon as this is not accepted, we are not going to tell you about the new radar that will arrive in France, even if it will not be for long, if it turns out to be effective.
So let’s cross the English Channel this time and look at the United Kingdom or the new camera system just went live.
Be careful when braking in front of the radar
When approaching a gray box, even if you are driving at the speed limit, you, like all of us, have a tendency to brake “just in case”.
Others, more familiar with the road they are driving on, prefer to brake at the last moment, while those who have not been very careful brake suddenly and usually a little too late, as the radar has undoubtedly seen you before.
This type of braking is definitely dangerous, especially if the traffic is heavy, and can obviously cause accidents.
How does this device work?
To combat this phenomenon, a new camera will be launched in the United Kingdom detect drivers who suddenly slow down when approaching a speed camera.
The cameras have already been successfully tested in Spain. They also work by placing the mobile device in a different location from the fixed radar, thus allowing it to detect speeding drivers immediately after passing the first small gray box.
If we’ve already had to pay attention to fixed and mobile radars, we may soon have to be vigilant about the cameras that precede them as well as those that follow. In case of violation, drivers will receive a fine directly. It remains to be seen how it will be indexed in France if such a system is rolled out.
