Audi opens a new era of electric motor production in its Hungarian factory in Gyorwith the manufacture of electric motors for PPE platform (Premium Electric platform). This completely new generation of electric motors will be used for the first time on a new one Audi Q6 E-tronwhich is based on this new electric architecture shared by Porsche, and production of which will begin in Ingolstadt, Germany, in late 2023.

Audi Győr: three new production lines

In addition to the new electric motors for the PPE platform Audi Q6 E-tron, Gyor plant also produces Audi Q8 E-tron electric motorization. An additional production area is being created for the future production of electric motors for cars of the Volkswagen concern, which will be based on MEBeco platform (Modularer E-antriebs Baukasten)

For the manufacture of electric motors of the PPE architecture, a brand with four rings is installed three new production lines at its Hungarian factory. The stator production line has 28 workstations, and the transmission component production line has 15. Assembling one drive bridge requires at least 190 steps.

About 700 employees work on making these engines: Dyer workers work in three shifts, producing up to 2000 electric motors per day for the PPE platform. The plant will supply both Audi and Porsche electric cars.

30 years of presence in Hungary

There is production in Gyor carbon neutral from 2020: The production site also has the largest rooftop photovoltaic system in Europe and is the largest industrial consumer of geothermal energy in Hungary. Audi will use the transport and logistics company DB Cargo to transport PPE electric motors from Gyor to Ingolstadt.

Audi is in Hungary for 30 years : Since its establishment, the Hungarian subsidiary has grown to become the largest powertrain factory in the world and the first Hungarian premium car factory.
