After the presentation of the new generation of its Countryman, Mini quickly released its sporty John Cooper Works version. This acronym, which is also used on the more classic Mini, is synonymous with the increased sportiness of the British manufacturer, even if this new version loses a few horses on the altar of pollution protection standards.
As you can see from the visuals presented by Mini, the Countryman JCW doesn’t play the low-key card, especially with its 20-inch wheels, its distinctive bumpers or its shades of black and red. Inside, leather combines with Alcantara to create an atmosphere that is as upscale as it is sporty.
The same engine, but less power
Under the hood we find the famous 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, but this time increased to 300 hp and 400 Nm and not 306 hp, as in the previous generation. There were European standards. Proof of this is the fact that the version sold in the US develops 316 hp.
Productivity is slower than that of the older generation, p a from 0 to 100 km/h lasting from 5.1 to 5.4 seconds. The maximum speed is still limited to 250 km/h. Transmission of power to non-permanent four-wheel drive is carried out through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Is the Mini too expensive?
But why is it almost not sold in France, when it was just presented? Its price has yet to be announced, but it should retail for around €62,000, just like its technical cousin, the BMW X1 M35i xDrive.
It will definitely be necessary to add to this a similar fine of around 15,000 euros from next yeardue to CO emissions2 176 g/km. We must not forget a few basic parameters, as well as the final turnkey invoice, will exceed 80,000 euros. SUV with a capacity of 300 hp. starts to become more expensive.
