Peugeot e-Rifter (2024): more attractive, but not more durable Auto Plus news in your smartphone Auto Plus news in your inbox

Stop calling it a minivan, call it a “combispace” anymore. This marketing term suggests some notable changes during the facelift of the Peugeot Rifter, a few weeks after the restyling of the utilitarian version.

However, on closer inspection, the changes are quite minor, at least as far as engines are concerned. As you can see in the photos, the Rifter gets a facelift and adopts the codes of the newer models, including a grille that features the brand’s new logo in the center.

Still so friendly?

This cousin of the Citroën ë-Berlingo is meant to be a little more upscale, with a few details that clearly give it a bit of a premium side, especially in the choice of materials. On the other hand, the updated e-Rifter retains the wheel arches that give it the adventurous character that distinguishes this family car version.

Inside, the changes are minor touch screen with a diagonal of 8 to 10 incheswhile digital instrumentation is also developing quite a bit.

Restyled Peugeot e-Rifter remains available in two length options: 4.40 meters or 4.75 meters. These two versions are available with 5 or 7 seats. What changes, obviously, is the capacity of the trunk, with the volume 775 liters under the shelf in 5 places of standard length and reached 4000 liters in two-seater on e-Rifter long in two-seater.

Is autonomy still too fair?

No changes under the hood, which is a shame as the Stellantis organ bank has evolved since the launch of the e-Rifter. In fact, the Sochaux combispace retains its electric motor 136 hp, and the 156 hp version now available from Peugeot, notably on the e-208 GT and e-308. The value of the torque increases and is from 260 to 270 Nm.

Another disappointment: autonomy. While most Peugeot electric models travel more than 400 km on a single charge, the e-Rifter can travel between 280 km and 320 km thanks to the battery 50 kW/h.

To optimize autonomy, Peugeot did not touch the battery, but played on other aspects. The new e-Rifter has received a regenerative braking system that can be activated at three levels of regeneration with the help of petals located behind the steering wheel. The car is equipped with a 7.4 kW on-board charger and, as an option, an 11 kW three-phase charger. DC charging supports up to 100 kW, which is enough to go from 0 to 80% in 30 minutes.

Prices haven’t been announced yet, but they shouldn’t change much from the outgoing version, which ranges from €37,850 to €43,050.
