To support the ramp-up of production of the new X2, the Regensburg plant was extended night shift, and plans to deploy three teams in the future. BMW Regensburg: a digital and connected factory

The factory in Regensburg is part of the program BMW iFactory : is the first automotive plant in the world to use a digital and 100% automated process to inspect, treat and mark the painted surfaces of vehicles. The process is based on artificial intelligence-driven robots with a computer system called AIQX (Artificial Intelligence Quality Next) that works in addition to the usual camera quality controls, helping to make BMW Regensburg digital, intelligent and connected factory.

System predictive maintenance was also developed to prevent technical malfunctions, for example in conveyor systems: production errors are detected in time, which avoids stopping the production system. Plants and machines are then monitored using automated evaluation of process data.

At the BMW plant in Regensburg to 1000 copies BMW 1 series, BMW X1 and BMW X2 are now produced dailyand delivered to customers worldwide.
