Several testing criteria

To make the right choice, ADAC tested eight suitable models against several criteria: their cost, their functioning and them level of reliability.

The overall rating is evaluated as follows: ” fine ” (a dark green), “FINE” (light green), “satisfactorily” (YELLOW), “sufficient” (orange) and finally “insufficient” (red).

The cheapest Wallbox is the best

On eight models were testedonly three Wallboxes have a phase switching system. This makes it possible to charge an electric car from an excess of generated electricity of only 1.3 kilowatts, while a fixed three-phase system requires at least 4.1 kilowatts.

Among only three products tested that offer this option directly from the factory, we find the one that also has the lowest price. It is about Wattpilot Home with Froniusdisplayed by price 938 euros in Germany. A quick look at the French sites shows little variation here, with slightly higher prices depending on the dealer (from €1,085 to €1,199).

But in addition to the attractive price, this particular model also has the best test result with 1.6 (the closer to 5, the better).

In any case, ADAC recommends that you seek professional advice before purchasing such a production surplus solution. They will be needed in any case to install such a terminal on the network.

In addition, to ensure compatibility between equipment, it is better to buy all components from the same supplier. In all cases, such an installation must be planned before investing blindly.
