The new model, made by Tommy Pike Customs, is inspired by the old “Z” that won the East African Safari Rally in 1971. many modifications were made for this new seventh-generation Nissan Z to bring it into the new trend of rugged and versatile safari sports cars.
Nissan Safari Rally Z Tribute: many modifications
In collaboration with Nissan USA, the teams at Tommy Pike Customs, a tuning company from the United States, in South Carolina, raised and strengthened the car’s suspension and added many improvements in terms of lighting, durability and performance to transform the Nissan Z, originally designed for the tarmac, for the dusty world of rallying.
A custom KW Safari suspension and Nismo-engineered suspension components increased the coupe’s ground clearance by 5 cm thanks to the installation of prototype 17 x 7.5-inch Nismo Safari rims, which themselves were shod in all-terrain tires Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 in 225/65 R17 ready for adventure.
Vital drivetrain and chassis components are protected by a front bumper guard as well as an underbody guard, while a set of Nismo Off Road LED lights at the front provide additional illumination during dusty conditions or night driving.
Over 400 horsepower under the hood
Major interior updates include a custom roll bar with 4-point seat belts, as well as Recaro Pole Position seats that have been custom finished in black and red leather.
Under the hood, the Nissan Safari Rally Z Tribute is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 (VR30DDTT) engine. more than 400 horsepowermodified by AMS, combined with a Nismo Track cat-back exhaust system, fresh air intake, carbon fiber engine cover, coolant expansion tank, heat exchanger, as well as an “enhanced dual-disc clutch”.
