The Flins “Refactory”, located in Ivelin, has become a symbol of the ambitions of the Renault group in the circular economy. The plant, which has been assembling cars since 1952, recently underwent a radical transformation. Since 1938 factory workers, “more than 90%” now intended for car repair.

During the extraordinary socio-economic commission Renault has announced plans to hire 150 people on permanent contracts over the next three years. This set aims to strengthen the skills necessary to prepare the future of the Flins factory and the emergence of new activities in line with the dynamics of the transformation of the site.

For what positions?

The permanent contracts on offer cover a wide range of roles, from operators to field managers, including engineers. These contracts will initially be “offered” to temporary workers currently on site.

These announcements are part of the New France 2025 agreement signed in December 2021 with the representative trade union organizations CFE-CGC, CFDT and FO. This agreement underlines the consolidation of the group’s industrial activities in France.

What are we doing today at the Renault factory in Flints?

The new Flins industrial model is not limited to car repair. These are also goals to extend the life of vehicles, to produce, store and manage green energy, as well as to extend the life of certain parts and materials. This approach is fully in line with the philosophy of the circular economy, which is aimed at reducing waste and maximizing the durability of the product.

In 2021, Renault announced its ambition to hire 3,000 employees in Flints and create “more than a billion euros of turnover in the closed cycle economy by 2030”.

The “Refactory” in Flint also becomes in a way a symbol of innovation and progress not only for Renault, but for the entire automotive industry, showing that it is possible to reinvent its economic model to adapt to environmental challenges, creating employment opportunities for the region.
