On the occasion of his event Kia EV Daythe South Korean manufacturer presented two new concept cars: they foreshadow the new 100% electric models that will soon expand the Kia range. THE Kia EV3 concept announces the arrival of a 100% electric compact SUV that will compete with the Peugeot 3008 and other Renault Scénics.
Decidedly futuristic concept Kia EV3 takes strong and futuristic linesin line with the brand’s latest SUVs, the EV5 and EV9: it takes the strengths of the latter in a more compact size, and we find wheel arches cut with a hook, black plastic guards surrounding the details of the underbody, a floating roof effect and even a unique light signature .
Kia EV3 Concept: refined and comfortable interior
On board the Kia EV3 Concept, we find a modern and warm atmosphere with clumsy elements that echo the exterior style. We find an improved instrument panel that illuminates a large panoramic screen functions as a dashboard and infotainment screen, or even a two-spoke steering wheel with a very futuristic style.
The seats are designed to be welcoming and comfortable and suggestive great modularity thanks to mini-tables that rotate in length, position and angle, with four modes of life on board: concentration, communication, rest and storage. The rear seat can easily be folded up to carry bulky luggage or even small vehicles such as electric scooters or bicycles.
Ecological materials on board
Kia is betting on natural and sustainable materials for this interior, with natural fibers that allow you to adopt a thinner and lighter seating style. The fibers are woven into the 3D effect seat covers using the 3D Knit process, which reduces the number of seams and joins, as well as waste during production.
The interior of the console is equipped with a cultured materialthanks to a process called bioproduction: mycelium, with mushroom rootswhich was chosen for its softness and excellent durability. “Using mycelium allows us to mimic the processes we observe in nature and use it to develop more sustainable solutions: the material can be grown in any shape using a mold. The use of mycelium is still in its infancy, and as part of Kia’s sustainability strategy, we are working with partners to accelerate the development of this material. One day, by growing our own materials, we will be able to simplify processes, adapt forms and, above all, become closer to nature in its essence.”– explains Marilia Bill, head of Kia’s CMF (color, materials, trim) design department.
By 2026, Kia plans to sell one million electric cars per yearand reach 1.6 million units annually by 2030. For this, a range of electric vehicles is planned at a price of approximately 28,000 to 75,000 euros, including models from the B (city cars) and C (compact) segments. which will be aimed at attracting European customers.
