Whether you drive petrol or diesel, refueling is undoubtedly becoming more and more difficult. And there is nothing surprising in this, when the price of fuel is still very high. And this is even if the price of a barrel of diesel is significantly lower than last year, in particular due to the embargo against Russia. But how to explain this surge in prices? First of all, an increase in demand, as well as taxation. Indeed, taxes are currently due 60% of the price per liter In France.

Falling prices?

A situation that the state does not want to change, that refuses to lower them, despite the demands of the French and the political class. But now Republican Leader Eric Ciotti has a new idea to help motorists. The latter is actually in favor of lowering the price of fuel for everyone by 15 cents. And this is while the government is acting targeted assistance, intended for the most modest households. But this discount is not completely free, on the contrary. Because it comes with another compensation measure.

Reduction of unemployment

The politician explains that this drop in the price of fuel, which would cost the state 5 billion euros, would be compensated reduction of unemployment benefits and their duration. According to him, it makes sense when ” more than 5 million French people are registered with Pôle emploi, while tens of thousands of companies are trying to recruit staff in so-called sectors under stress“. It remains to be seen what the government, which has so far not reacted to the proposal, thinks.
