This is the situation that is becoming non-viable for most of us. Gasoline prices have risen sharply in recent months. A phenomenon that does not exist exclusive in France it also applies to most European countries.
To counter this phenomenon, countries are taking measures to help their populations. You have necessarily heard about a loss-making sale in France. An idea that quickly became rolled over by various market players. Instead, the effort rests with the distributors. Actually, the latter claim that they sell their fuel at cost. A decision that is already bearing fruit, as prices in France have fallen very slightly.
And what about our European neighbors?
The situation is critical among our neighbors as well, as evidenced by these maps The European Commission.

France is far from exceptional in Europe when it comes to high price fuel Assistance to the population has been established among our neighbors.
Italian aid
The last one is help from Italy to 80 euros for the poorest families. In fact, the Italian government has just introduced “gas bonus” 80 euros. Please note, as we have just explained to you, this assistance will not be available to all Italians. In fact, the latter will target households with an annual income of less than 15,000 eurosor About 1.3 million households. This bonus is meant to help them refuel. It can also be used to reduce the price of public transport fares.
Help that will cost 100 million euros to the Italian government.
German aid?
If the price of fuel in Germany is a few cents lower than in France, in 2022 the German state has offered certain discounts. They are not active today. They were put in place from June to August 2022just when inflation was at its peak.
The situation risks changing across the Rhine. Indeed, in Berlin we wish, from January 1, 2024increase tax on CO2. This decision will lead to a significant increase in the price of a liter in Germany. An increase that should have already taken effect January 1, 2023but the government then postponed it for a year due to the energy crisis.
And others?
Among our other European neighbors, for example, in Belgium, no assistance is offered to the population regarding the price of fuel. You also have Spain, which has offered a size discount 20 cents till the end of the year 2022 year. Things are different in 2023, as the Spanish government offers back-up aid only for professionals.
New help in France?
In France, several aid measures were introduced in 2022 to cope with the sudden increase in fuel prices. There is help in 2023 still valid. Fuel commission of 100 euros for those who use the car for professional purposes.
If this help stopped 2024, the head of state said during his interview on September 24 on TF1 and France 2 that he wants to renew this assistance in 2024.
As for new aid to France, the program does not provide for it. As noted above, efforts are focused on distributors. After fiasco sales at a loss, this is fuel at cost accepted by distributors. Now we will see how the situation will develop.
