A few weeks after the presentation of the electric version, the first information appeared about the Fiat 600 Hybrid, which will enter the market in 2024.
The Fiat 600 Hybrid is powered by a micro-hybrid engine with a 100 hp 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine, which is accompanied by an electrical system powered by a small 48 V lithium-ion battery. The gearbox is a six-speed dual-clutch, which includes an electric motor with 29 hp Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is estimated to take approximately 11 seconds, according to Fiat.
Is hybridization really appropriate?
This is a transmission very close to the one recently introduced in the second generation Peugeot 3008, and we now find this engine under the hood of several models of the Stellantis group.
Under normal driving conditions, the engine is designed to optimize fuel consumption and reduce CO emissions2 up to 15% compared to a conventional heat engine with automatic transmission. Fiat estimates emissions from 110 to 114 g of CO2the indicators of which are still at the approval stage.
We won’t miss measuring this model at Auto Plus Lab to see if this Fiat 600 Hybrid performs better than other cars equipped with a micro-hybrid engine, where the increase in emissions and consumption remains very small according to our measurements.
Electrical autonomy “by form”
The Fiat 600 Hybrid’s mild hybrid powertrain also allows it to operate in electric-only mode under certain conditions. This mode is activated in the city at a speed below 30 km/h, with a range of up to 1 km in fully electric mode.
Compared to the electric version, the 600 Hybrid is slightly more spacious with a trunk 385 liters, or 25 liters more compared to its e-fuel cousin. Otherwise, the dimensions remain unchanged: 4.17 meters in length and 1.52 meters in height.
The Fiat 600 Hybrid will be available during 2024 at a price starting at €24,950 in Italy. French prices will undoubtedly be very close to those of our transalpine neighbors.
