Tesla’s present is the Cybertruck and the “new” Model 3. But Elon Musk’s company is also working on the future, starting with a new platform that will give life to the next generation of electric cars from the California brand. especially the highly anticipated Model 2 for less than $25,000.

According to the specialized website Teslarati, Tesla plans to start production at its Gigafactory in Austin, along with the famous 100% autonomous robot taxi promised by Elon Musk.

Two models from the future

Both will be produced on a large scale and should have a minimalist look, very similar to Cybertruckwith square and futuristic lines.

Walter Isaksson, Elon Musk’s biographer, also recalls the leader’s statement in which he stated that “Anyone who sees the Model 2 will think it came from the future”.

What will differentiate the two models is likely to be the cockpit, while the robotaxis will not have a steering wheel or pedals and will only be available for transportation services.

See you in 2025?

As noted above, production is expected to begin in Austin in the near future, between 2024 and 2025. Over time, Tesla democratizes the manufacturing processes of the Texas plant and adapts them to various factories around the world. These include a plant in Mexico and a plant in Nuevo Leon, but the foundation stone of which has not yet been laid.

The construction of this factory, announced last March, was planned for the summer of 2023 with a total investment of 10 billion dollars (9 billion euros). The production target was set at at least one million cars per year, which is exactly the target set by Tesla for the Model 2 and robotaxis.
