This is a manufacturer that we spontaneously associate with small light sports carsto racing cars and the pleasure of pure, unpretentious driving. Lotus, a famous British brand, made us dream in the past with its Seven, Elise, Esprit or recently Evora. Models that followed the credo of its founder, Colin Chapman, “Light is right.” Strength and lightness. But times change and so does Lotus… Since 2017, it has been owned by the Chinese automobile concern Geely, which made it a historical turning point. No more thermal sports cars, make room for more rational models, and above all 100% electric. After the large and tortured SUV Eletre, today the brand presents a large sedan, also electric: the Emeya.
Did you say Eletre?
At first glance, the relationship with the older brother is obvious. It’s just, it looks like an Eletre that has been deflated and lowered. Thus we find the same curved sides, mustache shield and light rear strip. Its prominent rims and black roof visually emphasize its stance, but it remains quite “strong” for a sedan that should prefer clear lines and light aerodynamics. A more successful atmosphere on board, p clean and bright interior which calls for long journeys. There’s no doubt what’s in his sights: the Tesla Model S Plaid!
A supercar of all superlatives
Under the hood, Lotus equipped it for its most powerful version two electric motors that combine 905 horsepower. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 2.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 256 km/h. This time sooner Porsche Taycan Turbo S what a sight! It features a front air vent and rear spoiler that evolve with the help of electronics to improve aerodynamics. finally, its 100 kWh battery allows you to travel 600 kilometers on a single charge. Thanks to its 800V architecture, it offers a record charging time: 150 kilometers recovered in just 5 minutes, with a peak charge of 350kW! She will be manufactured in Wuhan, China alongside Eletre, at roughly equivalent prices, ie. about 98,000 euros. That’s €100,000 less than the equivalent Porsche Taycan Turbo S, it’s going to hurt…
