Every year, companies responsible for the management of highways have the right to increase tolls. But there are still rules to follow as companies have to limit themselves 70% of the inflation rate. Which is still great, although the latter is now very high. So, in February of last year, the cost of travel increased by an average of 4.75%, depending on the regions and management companies. And it still has to go on as long as the government wants to add its little grain of salt.

New tax
Indeed, the latter plans to create a whole new tax, but the official date has not yet been announced. Transport Minister Clément Bohn explains that “we need to invest heavily in the ecological transition. One of the sources of financing is the appeal to the most polluting modes of transport, which contain carbon, road, plane, to finance investment, particularly in the train, to have more trains or to have lower prices. We saw the relevance of this“.
No increase
But then should we expect to pay an even higher duty? Logically, the answer should be yes. But not according to the government. He explains that ” if there is a tax on road companies, it does not affect fares. It is legally provided for (…) If there is taxation of road companies, then it has no effect fares paid by motorists“. We are reassured!
