This has been going on for over a year. Indeed, since last year, the price of fuel has risen sharply everywhere in Europe, and especially in France. In question war in Ukraine, as well as the Russian oil embargo. But that’s not all, because other producing countries have also decided to cut their exports in order to raise the price per barrel. And of course, this directly affects the amount motorists pay at gas stations. And since the beginning of summer, prices have been constantly rising, sometimes exceeding the mark of two euros per liter at the resorts.

But when will this situation finally calm down? Should we expect prices to finally fall in the coming months? Well, nothing is less certain for now. Indeed, prices are still very high, and the upward trend is due falling oil production. But some experts whisper that the trend could change in the coming weeks. And it is not for nothing that the price of oil is starting to fall a bit, in particular due to concerns about the economic health of China and the stock market. However, we know that Beijing is the largest importer in the world.

And for us?

But then should we wait? pay less for fuel over the next few weeks? To be honest, nothing is certain yet. According to Francis Perrin, a research associate at the Policy Center for the New South, “ it all depends on how long the drop in the price of oil lasts: if it lasts for a few days, it will not be enough, it will have to continue for a long time“. Be that as it may, the government refuses to introduce new aid and, above all, refrains from reducing VAT, to the indignation of motorists’ protection associations.
