Automotive company carVertical, which specializes in used car history reports, brings us the results of its research on the most popular used cars in France.

Favorite used cars in France

SUVs with an uncertain future

However, according to carVertical, this is the only advantage of these vehicles, which exhibit more weight, reduced aerodynamics and higher fuel consumption. Their future is also at risk in the city, as some French municipalities have decided to increase the tax on SUVs because they are bulkier and emit more CO2.

THE pickup trucks is the least popular car type in France, with a share of just 1.2%, but slightly more than last year (0.8%). Finally, although they have been recognized in the past, convertibles are no longer among the most sought-after cars in France: their share fell from 4.1% in 2022 to just 2.9% in 2023.

A similar trend is observed for minivans and other multi-purpose vehicles, even if their share increased from 2.8% to 4.1%, are today neglected in favor of SUVs. Station wagons and station wagons fell the most, compared to last year, by 4.8% and 5.7%, respectively.
