Olympic Games in Paris 2024: specific traffic signs are published Auto Plus news in your smartphone Auto Plus news in your inbox

As you probably know, especially if you live in the Paris region, during normal times traffic is complicated, to say the least. Next summer should be even more difficult with the Olympic Games in Paris-2024.

On the sidelines of this global event, the government and municipality begin to set the traffic conditions that must apply during the event. At Auto Plus, we’ve created a separate topic about the roads that will be temporarily (or permanently) affected by the Olympics.

Reserved lanes will have special signs

For these Olympic Games, the government has created the famous “reserved lanes”, i.e. lanes on certain roads and motorways that will be reserved only for:

  • vehicles of persons accredited by the Organizing Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games;
  • taxi and public transport;
  • vehicles intended for transportation of people with limited mobility;
  • emergency rescue vehicles.

The list of lanes and parts of the reserved lanes are in Paris, as well as in the departments of Haut-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines and Val d’Oise.

Very clear signs

The Home Office has just released the new signs that will be installed during the Olympic and Paralympic Games between 1Er July and September 15, 2024 inclusive.

Signs and field markings will be installed by Road Network Managers upstream of the relevant roads and regularly throughout the latter.

These signal elements include either the Games logo or a clear reference to Paris 2024. Some lanes are reserved only for part of the day, they will be indicated by panels with work in dynamic mode, which will be active only at a certain time.

All signs are available by clicking here. Remember that after the Olympics, some lanes will be “perpetuated”, as will be the case with the ring road, where the far left lane will be reserved for carpooling.
