This is a flagship model for Renault conceived, designed and developed exclusively for emerging markets: the Kwid. This mini city car (segment A) continued the success of the small models available in Africa, South America and India in particular. It was also designed primarily for this latter market. New car eldorado, India was invested by Renault in 2005. Associated with its partner Nissan, Losange opened a joint factory there in Chennai in 2010. For some time she sold the models available from us: Fluence, Koleos, Lodgy, Captur, Duster. But also two models derived from Nissan Micra and Almera: Pulse and Scala. The Kwid arrived in 2015and presented as a world premiere platform CMF-A of the alliance. It has since been used in Renault Kiger and Triber, Dacia Spring Electric and Datsun Redi-Go.
Renault worldwide, Dacia in Europe
This is a maximally undressed model that corresponds to the most necessary, to remain competitive in these markets where purchasing power is lower than here. In these countries, it is offered exclusively in internal combustion engines, 3-cylinder gasoline, developing from 54 to 68 horsepower. It also exists in electrical, sold in China as the City K-ZE and in South America as the Kwid E-Tech. Above all, we know it in Europe as Dacian Springwhich will arrive in France in March 2021. It’s our bestseller and has received over 100,000 orders in Europe since launch. In France, 18,000 copies were sold in 2022. This is our best-selling electrician! Of course, this is not a beast of power, Renault preferred sobriety to reduce the attractive price as much as possible.
Presented in a sports version
However, some of her followers would dream of seeing her available in sports version ! The project is not so crazy: Renault sold in Brazil the old generation Sandero in the RS version with 152 horsepower! The Willys-Alpine Interlagos was even at one time the first sports car produced in Brazil… Undoubtedly, it is Renault’s sporty DNA that gave ideas to a Brazilian designer.
This one imagined the sporty version of the Kwid ! In the 3D photos published on his Instagram page, the little public servant has changed a lot! Thus it is displayed reduced ground clearance, wider fenders and much more prominent bumpers than the stock version! Pay attention to the shield and redesigned diffuseras well as dual exhaust pipes ! If it’s only available digitally at this point, we’d love to see it developed in a single instance. We would be especially interested to know what “sports” engine could bring it to life…
