Alfa Romeo, like most Stellantis brands, will be 100% electric within about ten years. According to early rumors, to mark this unprecedented transition, Alfa Romeo is set to hit hard with a sporty e-fuel, about 1000 hp.

In an interview with the British journalists of Autocar, Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Alfa Romeo’s design director, admitted that the idea of ​​working on an electric sports car seemed interesting to him.

“There are many things we can take as a reference in Alfa Romeo, like the SZ for example. Its distinctive design and independent spirit may inspire the future electric coupe. I really like its boxy profile, cropped back and distinctive lines. This look is as distinctive as it is special. »

“It is often said that it is easier to design electric cars. If it’s basically true that there are fewer components than the thermal model, it’s not because the platforms make some compromises in terms of lines. It’s a constant challenge.”– says Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos.

A cousin of the electric Giulia Quadrifoglio?

If such a model appears in the assortment, there is a high probability that it will be shared the lower part of the future 100% electric Alfa Romeo Giulia.

In this regard, Jean-Philippe Imparato, the boss of the company in Biscione, has already stated that the Quadrifoglio version is approaching 1000 hp. and that there will be other versions with 350 and 800 hp, with the possibility of fast charging of the car. thanks to the new 800-volt architecture.
