For several months, the price of fuel was very high. This obviously makes life difficult for the French who have to deal with it so much so that some even have to cut back on their trips as it becomes difficult to fill the tank. A trend to which we, in particular, owe war in Ukraine, whereas before the prices were much more acceptable. But the tax is not in vain, although it is about 60% of the price of a liter. And if the government asked distributors to act, it would unfortunately not change much of the problem.
Europe has agreed to phase out the use of heat engines by 2035. However, the fuel tax is an important source of revenue for the French state. https://t.co/M17WH4kOC3

To decline?
However, the trend has been declining for several weeks now. True, it remains weak and inconspicuous, but already positive. Indeed, a liter of diesel is currently peaking at €1.74, compared to €1.78 for a liter of unleaded 95. But prices could fall further in the coming months. So much so that fuel could go back to €1.20 a litre? It is possible, at least according to energy expert of the University of Liège. Damien Ernst wants to be very optimistic about this and predicts a significant drop in the near future.
1.20 euros per liter?
He explains that ” Barring one-off events like strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, I don’t think we will ever reach 2 euros per liter again, as we saw last year. I even think that it is possible to approach the level of 1.20 euros per liter at the gas station.”. Especially good news for motorists summer vacation is coming. And at the same time, many decided not to travel too far or even to stay at home in order not to burden their finances. Whether this forecast will be accurate remains to be seen.
