After collection The spirit of travel discovered last March, DS today reveals a completely different project. The French premium brand represents a Interior style manifesto baptized The middle of the 21staugural sophisticated vision AND luxurious future interiors of their cars. The real research support started in 2021 allowed the design teams to specify all the reflections on the specific object. DS invited us to review this project at DNA studioa few meters from the office responsible for design… Opening!
A manifesto that represents the future of French luxury
Life-size model The middle of the 21st nothing conceptual. DS insists and indicates that this passenger compartment allows create link between your vision of the future and one concrete project. Adopting a new philosophyThe art of travel In the French style, this manifesto showcases a forward-looking vision that brings an unprecedented experience of comfort, refinement and technology in line with the DS. This exploratory support, in addition to its internal use to create links of reflection between design and product teams, is also a powerful communication tool to stimulate creativity.
What is a manifesto and how does it differ from a concept car? Thierry METROZ, DS Automobiles Design Director, responds:
The circle as a new light signature
For its future interiors, DS presents a new light signature exclusive with light circles in the door frames. These light rings will enhance future DS car interiors. Vincent Lobry, Head of Design Colors, materials, decoration sign, means that ” The advantage of a light ring is its unchanging shape“. Thanks to its round shape, the light circle will not “hinder the integration of future elements into the interior.” Also all alternative light sources will be integrated indirectlysuch as under the floating instrument panel.
The brand also promises better usability volumes. The manifesto represents a floating instrument panel, leaving plenty of leg room. Without a transmission tunnel or center console, the floor is completely free. And finally, a custom-made compartment with drawers under the instrument panel adds a touch of elegance to the interior.
Sound preview
Sound universe completely redesigned. DS explains that deep thinking was done ” to end the escalation permanent high-quality system components“. It also allows gain in space and mass, two important elements for the group’s future electric vehicles. All sound components were grouped together one central element, which in itself becomes a strong symbol of the vehicle. Exit the multitude of speakers in the passenger compartment, now housed in a single central box located under the instrument panel, sublimated with lighting effects. By freeing conventional speakers from the storm door design, for example, DS took the opportunity to replace this space with a unique zone of artistic expression in the shape of a circle. This is enhanced by the actual artwork. This space can reflect the level of finishing of the car, for example, with work on precious materials and textures.
There is no screen, but information is projected
The last strong design element, the elegant integration of information on a large surface replace screens. DS claims these screens have no aesthetic value when turned off. To offer an alternative, the manufacturer seeks to project content onto a self-opaque glass plate, which would become transparent when its use would not be necessary. DS calls this a “phantom display”. The only screens that are still present are the touch ones rear view cameralocated at the level of the door.
The internal manifesto was exhibited at the Grand Palais Ephémère in Paris
The Mi21 project will be exhibited in Paris, at the Grand Palais Ephémère, on the occasion of the International Biennale of Crafts and Creativity entitled ” Revelation » which opens its doors today and until next Sunday!
