The new Lancia Ypsilon is just around the corner. Its presentation is expected in 2024, probably in the first quarter. No official image has been released yet, but we’ve got our first look at the Pu+Ra HPE styling, a concept that heralds Lancia’s design of the future.

All we know so far is that it will be an electrified crossover, with hybrid and 100% electric engines. Today, new information comes to us directly from Luca Napolitano, the boss of Lancia, who announced in a post on LinkedIn that production of the new Ypsilon will soon begin. He also mentioned the engines it will be equipped with.

Electrical and light hybridization

There were some doubts about the presence of heat engines, but ultimately Lancia will not go all-electric in the near future. Like Peugeot 208 or Opel Corsa, Lancia Ypsilon will offer its customers a choice of energy for its customers.

The Italian will be offered with micro-hybrid units, even if we do not yet know which engines Lancia will choose from the Stellantis group. The Peugeot 3008 and 5008 have a 1.2-liter three-cylinder PureTech engine with a capacity of 136 hp. or a 1.5-liter engine with a capacity of 130 hp. in Jeep Renegade.

The car will be based on the Stellantis CMP platform, which implies the presence of a PureTech engine under the Lancia hood. A 100 hp gasoline alternative may also be included. There will be no diesel version.

More than 400 km of autonomy for the electric version

As for the electric motor, Luca Napolitano did not provide any information, but again, other electric models from Stellantis offer many elements of the answer.

The electric Lancia Ypsilon will use an engine from 156 hp Avenger or Opel Corsa Electric with a battery capacity of 54 kWh approx Range of 400 km.
