Since the arrival of Luca de Meo at the head from 2020. Renault has changed its face. The Italian manufacturer has embarked on a deep repositioning of the group’s various brands (Renault, Alpine, Dacia and the late Lada) to clarify their philosophy as well as to justify future price increases aimed at return the builder to the path of profitability. For the Renault brand, the changes were obvious: it had to become more “techno”. Understand, younger and “hype”, more ambitious in terms of connectivity and technological innovation. Since then, and as the Mégane, Austral and Espace attest, there have been partnership with Google and Qualcomm especially. The first to develop new operating systems (infotainment and driver instruments). The second, less visible, is for driver aids and on-board technologies.

A supercomputer developed jointly with Valeo

Le Losange continues its transformation and has just made two important announcements in this direction. The first of them new partnership with Valeo. The French equipment manufacturer is a long-standing partner of Losange. Like Faurencia for PSA, it is a major supplier of parts and accessories. Valeo is already working with Renault on the development of a new electric transmission which should see the light in 2027. Today, the partnership goes further and involves a more electronic component. Valeo is to create a new generation of “supercomputers” Renault. It is the “brain” of the car, which collects, centralizes and processes all data related to the car. Driving aids, artificial intelligence, updates, user settings, data… It HPC (for High Performance Computing) should introduce a completely new ecosystem in Renault models.

Concept car from Software République

The second big announcement from the manufacturer is a must embody and demonstrate this new technological shift. He will be presented by Fr Vivatech exhibition in Paris (the European equivalent of CES in Las Vegas), which will be held from June 14 to 17. This is one of the first “kids” in Software Republic. A joint project launched in 2022 between Renault, Orange, Thales, STMicroelectronics, Dassault Systems or Atos (digital services). These big names collaborated on a concept car called “H1st vision”, which promises more than 20 innovations! For Renault, this new ecosystem has a double challenge. Reduce your time and especially costs for the development of electronic and software architectures. First of all, it allows the manufacturer to expand the car for new purposes thanks to the know-how of its partners. Cyber security, data, artificial intelligence, embedded systems : what will the Renault of tomorrow consist of?
