Only a few days after the presentation, the first Aston Martin DB12 already found its first buyer. At the amfAR gala concert in Cannes the very first DB12 was sold at auction for €1.5 million.
That’s eight times the list price, but let’s clarify that this sale was for a different purpose than having the “first DB12” because all proceeds will be used to fund AIDS research.
A star among stars
The sale took place as part of the evening, during which many film and pop stars paraded next to the car. Introduced on stage by Eva Longoria and James Marsden, several guests including Queen Latifah, Rebel Wilson, Heidi Klum and Bianca Balti were able to discover the new British GT.
In addition to the special setting in which the auction took place, this DB12 featured a number of special and unique details that partially justified its astronomical price. This DB12 really has it on the hood the signing of Fernando Alonso and Lance Strolltwo pilots of the Formula 1 team of the same name.
In addition, the DB12 has been customized by Aston Martin’s Q with special badges on the sidewalls and specific embroidery on the seats.

Under the hood we find a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 680 hp and 800 Nm. The 34% increase in torque compared to the DB11 is the result of numerous improvements to the engine, including the turbocharger, cooling system and lubrication system.
The new front part and new air intakes on the hood increase air intake by 56%. In terms of performance, the DB12 drops from 0 to 100 km/h 3.5 secondsand the maximum speed is 325 km/h.
The V8 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and, for the first time in DB history, an electronic limited-slip rear differential. Among other things, the transmission itself was completely redesigned, with a shorter gear ratio.
