He arrived in Europe a few months ago. After BYD, Nio or even Lynk&Co, a new Chinese manufacturer, XPeng, is coming to the Old Continent. But unlike its international competitors, XPeng, such as Seres or Aiways, is a more confidential manufacturer. Founded in 2014there was no mark available so far only in China, where four models are currently on sale. Two sedans, a crossover and an SUV. Like most of his compatriots, XPeng sees Europe as a key market in this development strategy, and today begins its big offensive! Norway has already been a client of the brand since April 2022, which tested the market there with its P5 small sedan. from now on two more models are available in the European rangefor sale primarily in the Scandinavian countries, as well as in the Netherlands. Large sedan P7 and family SUV G9!
Two models for Europe
The first is a competitor to the Tesla Model S. Fully electric, it has an elegant design and a rich level of equipment, which visually has nothing to envy sad and pointless Tesla salons. Fully electric, it offers two different architectures. A power plant with a capacity of 267 horsepower and a range of 576 kilometers. All-wheel drive and 430 horsepower for 505 kilometers of autonomy. The G9, positioned in the same segment, is Tesla Model X competitor. It’s the alter ego of the P7 SUV, with the same smooth design, but we’ve added a dose of testosterone! On the technical side, it’s kept at the top of its range thanks to a 551bhp electric all-wheel drive system that delivers 570bhp.. These two models should allow XPeng to break into Europe. But in China, its home country, XPeng is now adding a fifth model to its range, the G6.
G6, XPeng’s Last Struggle?
Positioned in the D segment, the G6 is this time a rival to the Tesla Model Y. A sign that XPeng wants to hit harder and faster, he opens up an unprecedented platform called SEPA 2.0. This gives him access to a architecture 800 V, which provides a record charging time. Recovered 300 kilometers in 10 minutes. Like the P7 and G9, it is offered with rear-wheel drive (296 horsepower) or inline (487 horsepower).
Its autonomy is astronomical: it promises up to 755 kilometers! If XPeng has been so careful with its copy, it is because the builder is in great trouble. His sales are falling, his debts are rising, and Price war against Tesla in China significantly weakens the continuation of its activity. Far from being a last-chance model, the G6 is eagerly awaiting a turnaround. Will it allow the young brand to return to balance? And will it be sold in Europe?
