Audi RS 6: preparing a more “extreme” version? News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your mailbox

From 2026, new Audis will be exclusively electric, and by 2032 they will stop producing cars with an internal combustion engine altogether. But until this date, Audi intends to take advantage of this to introduce several models that will mark the end of the thermal for the manufacturer with rings.

In an interview with Autocar, Sebastian Grams, boss of Audi Sport, said that the RS 6 “more extreme” was technically possible.

Outside

The most powerful Audi RS 6 currently develops at least 630 hp. and 850 Nm of torque thanks to its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8. It’s the Performance version launched late last year, and it could be getting an even edgier cousin very soon.

When asked by our colleagues at Autocar if the German marque had finished updating the RS 6, the Audi Sport boss said: “No, we can go even further. We can make the car even more powerful, even more powerful, even sharper.”.

The leader apparently didn’t want to say more, but Audi has already dropped a few hints, including the RS 6 GTO concept car, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the famous Audi Quattro. So a more powerful version should see the light of day in 2024, no doubt based on the work done around the concept.

Over 700 hp?

Remember, too, that Mark Lichte, Audi’s head of design, has already promised that the latest wave of combustion-engined RS models will “breathtaking”. To exceed the current level of power, the Audi RS 6, which is promised as “more extreme”, could be eligible for an electrification system for a significant increase in power.

In particular, we’re thinking of the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, which has the same V8 but with an electric motor for a combined output of 700 hp.
